Located on the north-east coast, Tulamben is Bali's most famous dive destination. Approx 30m offshore, is the shipwreck "USAT Liberty" - suitable for all levels, it lies in depths ranging from 4-30m. Broken in half, 120m in length, the wreck is very popular with photographers as it is totally encrusted in anemone, gorgonia and corals. The black sand provides an excellent color contrast for the incredible variety of marine life, which include a huge school of Big-Eyed Trevally and over 400 other species of fish. At the eastern end of the beach is a stunningly beautiful wall that drops to below 60m. In addition to the amazing corals and colourful range of fish including Bumphead Parrotfish and Ghost Pipefish, we see octopus and Moray Eel, and sometimes (depending on the season) black-tip, white-tip, whale and hammerhead shark. |
