ANIMAL KINGDOM ON BALIBig carnivore mammals such as tiger, black panther or leopard are still exist on Bali but rarely found. Water Buffalo is the domestic animal which is used to cultivate peoples rice field, instead of tractors. Other is dogs which can be seen wandering along the streets and "Warung" (food stall). Those that are unlucky have to find their food from the garbage bin, but those that are lucky are well treated as pets. The most famous variant of this animal comes from Kintamani, which has a long beautiful fur. Other looks like a leopard, has a black spot on brown background. Imported dogs from outside Bali is prohibited. Meanwhile cat keep themselves pretty, feeding on small birds and mice.
Rice terraces are the favorite habitat for birds, Java Munia, Sparrow, Parrot finch and Herons. Cock has a special place and meaning for Balinese because it is usually used for cock fighting and for purification (Mecaru). Win-or-die cockfight gambling has been banned in the late 1970s. Insect such as mosquitoes are the most annoying. In 1980s, again the Government had to spray the DDT - eradicating the malaria, and bloody fever in the beginning of 1999. Bees and butterflies are commonly seen at gardens and only in fruits season. Sea shores also keep their treasures of flora and fauna species. Various unique and colorful marine lifes are the famous attraction for snorkelling. Giant sea turtles are quite common on Bali, in spite of the fact that in the West Bali, it is one out of several animals that are protected. However, they are still hunted for their meat and skin to produce souvenirs. |

and protected by Government. Bali Barat National Park is the inhabitant
of this animal.
