Cuisine delights are part of the leisure on this island. A wide range of lip-smacking results gourmets in fine restaurants offer a full menu of Western, Chinese, and Japanese dishes besides the spicy Indonesian or traditional Balinese and Lombok dishes. There are also delicious choices for Italian, Mexican, Thailand, Mediterranean, Korean and Middle Eastern menus. For dietary and health foods available in mostly tourist locations.

Cheer up your spirit with choices of sophisticated champagne, wine, cocktail or just a glass of beer. Coffee lovers should try black, thick and aromatic Balinese coffee or get a pack for a handy-gift.

Many fine restaurants and cafes not only offer fine gourmets, dining will be totally delightful ambiance with a touch of pleasure atmosphere with breathtaking views over the sea or verdant rice terraces, accompanied with Balinese dance or music.

Balinese Cuisine
Balinese cuisine usually served in daily meals for Balinese family and also served for offering in the ritual ceremonies. Known for its spicy flavor, traditionaly served in banana leaves.

Cooking School
One of the finest Balinese cooking school is at Bumbu Bali, located at jalan Tanjung Benoa in Nusa Dua. Managed by Mr. Heinz von Holzen.

Specialities

  • Babi Guling
    A suckling pig roasted on a spit, stuffed with vegetables, spices, chili and rice.
  • Bebek Betutu
    Duck roasted in banana leaves in a traditional earth oven. Please order a day in advance.
  • Bubuh Injin
    Coconut rice pudding with fruit.
  • Lawar
    Soft chopped mixed vegetables such as Green Beans, Papaya, Jack fruit, grated coconut, star fruit leaves and spices. This dish usually served with "Babi Guling".

Indonesian Cuisine
Various cuisine from the islands of Indonesia with spicy flavor. International restaurants always adjust the spicy taste to be more naturally lighter for foreigners.

  • Ayam Goreng and Ayam Bakar
    Fried and roasted chicken, served hot with steamed rice and vegetables.

    Assortment of fresh fruits salad served with chili and brown sugar sauce.

    Beef, lamb, pork or chicken barbeque served hot with peanut sauce, onion slices and lime drops.
